All about the Har Ki Dun Trek.
Stok Kangri in Ladakh is one of the most fascinating places on earth to visit. It has gained much fame and attention in the last few years because of amazing setting surrounded by Himalayan range and complete tranquility. Trekkers experience a peaceful and serene environment in the deserted surroundings here. Being at such high altitude, Stok Kangri attracts many trekkers here. Also, mountaineers practice on this trail to increase their stamina and endurance if they are attempting Mount Everest. During the winter season, you will feel as if you are in a fairyland as the entire place is covered in snow. Stok Kangri peak provides you the entire view of Zanskar and the Indus Valley.
Because of being at such height, this trek becomes a difficult one. With the increase in height, you will face immense challenges as low oxygen level and low pressure. You need to be very careful and also the fittest while embarking on this trek. Once you start for this trek, it will be a test of your physical as well as mental strength. The Stok Kangri trek starts Leh. As you reach Leh, spend some time getting used to the weather and beauty of this place. On your way to the village, you will find lush greenery everywhere. You will leave for your base camp from Changa Ma, which is placed in a very grassy area and has a lot of water bodies. Resting here for a whole day, you will be guided and informed by your trek leaders about the possibilities and challenges that you will be facing ahead.
A climb of approximately 9-10 hours will take you to the top of the ridge. When at the top, experience the enchanting view of the Karakoram Range to your north and Zanskar Range to your south. This 8-day trekking experience is going to be the best experience of your life as it is entirely different from most of the treks which are generally easy to moderate in terms of difficulty level.
