Overview

All about the Har Ki Dun Trek

A high altitude trek, Rupin pass showcases an outstanding surrounding which consists of the dense forests, green landscapes and other nature’s offerings in abundance. This adventurous expedition begins from Dhaula in Uttarakhand and ends at Sangla in Himachal Pradesh. You will be crossing the state border near Kinnaur to enter Himachal.

You will get a magical experience, as the greener landscapes start to turn into snow patches followed by the vast snow fields while heading towards Rupin Pass. The trek will also become difficult and challenging with every step you take. Keep yourself hydrated at all times.

You will be delighted to experience the local culture of two different states at a time, indulging yourself with the people and knowing about them. This kind of raw interaction gives you an ample opportunity to grow yourself as a traveller. This place is filled with plethora of spots to see and admire like bridges, waterfalls, streams, habitations, forests, religious sites and towering peaks.
While leaving for the Rupin Pass, you will cross Pokhu Devta temple which is a recognized shrine here and worshiped by the people of these hills. This trek has been rated as moderate to difficult, so you need to be fit enough and well prepared to cover the path. Slippery trail, hard snow and steep climb are part of the trek. However, you will be rewarded with the beautiful view of the mighty Himalayas and the extravagance of nature.

Day 7 is the longest and the most challenging segment of this entire trek. A steep climb will take you towards the Rati Pheri Campsite.

NOTE: Refill your bottles at the Rati Pheri campsite as water sources are limited here.

There is a vast stretch of snow at this site which makes it impossible to follow any track. You will be trekking through the snow field to reach Rupin Pass gully. It will be the most fascinating thing to do, but, a lot of precaution needs to be taken as slips and slides are quite common here. Also, you need to be careful with the direction as there are good chances of ending up somewhere else because of less to no visibility of the path.
