Trek Overview
Prashar lake is an enchanting spot placed in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh. The beauty of this place cannot be compared to any other place in this country. This is a hidden gem situated in the valley of Dhauladhar range covered with thick forests and snow clad mountains. The trek towards this blue water lake is a beautiful journey, the trail of which goes through several rivulets and trees on both sides. The charming trail also covers a small village so you can even enjoy the local culture and get to know this place better. The view of Dhauladhar, Pir Panjal and Kinnaur mountain ranges is visible on this trek. There is a local temple dedicated to Prashar Rishi next to the lake. According to Hindu mythology, Rishi Parashar was the grandson of Rishi Vashishtha. The architecture of this Hindu shrine is very beautiful and is in Himachali style. You must visit this temple as you reach your destination as it is also an important part of this trek.
The Prashar Lake trek starts at Baggi which is around 27 kms from Mandi is the base camp of this trek. We will arrange a transport that will pick you up from Mandi early in the morning and take you to your base camp Baggi. Reaching Mandi is easy as transport is easily available from Delhi or Chandigarh. It takes approximately 10-12 hours to cover a distance of around 430 kms from Delhi to Mandi. On the other hand, it takes about 6-7 hours from Chandigarh.
We will begin from your base camp with a trek of 7.05 kms that will be completed in 5 hours.
While trekking, do not hurry and enjoy the view as well. Covering many steep ascent you will reach Prashar lake.
Explore the place and do not miss to visit the beautiful temple dedicated to sage Prashar.
There are mountains that you will see on the way like Triund, Dhauladhar Matterhorn, Kap Chuli, Man Hill, Hanuman Tibba, Sikar Beh, Mukar Beh, Manali peak, Friendship peak, Mukila, Ali Ratni Tibba and many smaller ones encircling a magnificent valley.
Take some rest here.
After reaching lake Prashar, you will be immersed in its absolute beauty.
Spare some time to admire the charm of this lake.
The lake is protected by a fence so your wouldn’t be able to enter it.
However, you can view a floating island inside the lake. Spend time here viewing the sunset from your camps before you return the next morning.
Note: Carry plenty of water. There is one water source at Til, around 2.6 km into the trek. You can refill your water bottles here.

Leave for Mandi
On day 2 your journey comes to an end. You will start your downwards trek from the lake and reach Kantlu through a different route this time. On the way you will come across meadows, forests, grasslands, and beautiful landscapes. During the journey you will also witness the Dhauladhar range, Mukila and Hanuman Tibba peaks that are enough to take your breath away. After walking for a few hours you will reach a small village named Halgarh. This village comprises of very few houses. From here, you will get a clear view of Kantlu. Start descending from this point and after a few moments you will reach a part of the route taken on the previous day. Follow this route to reach Kantlu where you will have your lunch and then leave for Mandi.
Note: You can visit the Tunga Mata temple above the Prashar Lake which is a 12 kms trek. You will witness a stunning view of the lake from here.

We almost never cancel our treks. But in case we cancel a trek because of Lockdown, Natural calamities (snowstorms, thunderstorms, floods, landslides, earthquakes, bad weather) or unexpected political unrest, terrorism activity, curfews, local riots, or government orders, Trekkers Of India issues a voucher for the full amount of your trek fee paid to us or Alternate Trek will be arranged. You can redeem the Trek Voucher on any of our treks over the next one year or even extend it in case of emergency. NO CASH REFUND would be made.
What If Trekker is on Trek & It is not completed due to natural calamities (snowstorms, thunderstorms, floods, landslides, earthquakes, bad weather) or unexpected political unrest, terrorism activity, curfews, local riots, or government orders?
There would be NO REFUND in this case.

You can fall ill or get hit by AMS or at times simply fatigue pulls you down or there may be other reasons as well such as Snowstorms, thunderstorms, floods, landslides, earthquakes or unexpected political unrest, bad weather, curfews, local riots, or government orders?. Or if your Trek Leader/Guide sends you back down to base due to a safety or health issue. At Trekkers Of India we feel bad when such things happen and we understand the feelings of Trekker.
But wait! Trekkers Of India will not let you go back with sad face! We have a feature/policy in which you can “COME BACK & TREK AGAIN” that means you can come back & do SAME TREK again. And Hey! you don’t need to pay Trekkers Of India money for the same. Happy now ?
How to apply for same? Simply email us at support@trekkersofindia.in, Our support team will send you a Refcode (Which is not a Trek Voucher Code). Next year when you are ready to do Same trek again, you can simply mail us at bookings@trekkersofindia.in with Refcode and batch date our team will help you confirming your slot.
IMPORTANT: Offloading Fee, Travel Fee, Rental Fee is not included in this feature.
Trek Voucher is a credit amount which gets added to you Trekkers Of India account. You can redeem trek voucher by booking any Fixed Departure Trek with Trekkers Of India in future. Every Trek voucher comes with one year validity.
IMPORTANT: Trekkers Of India Trek Vouchers are non transferrable, non refundable to others. Only Trekker who has received it can redeem it. For example, If you have booked for five person you can either avail one Trek voucher of xyz amount or five trek vouchers will be issued on Trekker’s name.

If you wish to witness a live snowfall at the lake, the ideal months would be January and February. However, for individuals who appreciate the lush greenery of nature more than snowy landscapes, it is recommended to schedule a trip during April, early May, or September.
