Overview-
Ganesha or Ganpati, the elephant-headed Hindu god of beginnings, who is traditionally worshipped, considered to be the benefactor before the significant ventures. Dhundital or Dodital, which idyllically stands for the “Lake of Ganesha” or “Ganesha ka Tal.” The divine power behind all the speculations and endeavors, the son of Lord Shiva & Goddess Parvati, Lord Ganesha is said to be born here.
The folks built a small, beautifully architected temple at the corner in the loving memories of the Lord Ganesha.
Ganesha is well-regarded for the eradication of obstacles, the patron of arts and sciences and the intellect and wisdom.
If the shrine for a lifetime is in your mind, no other alternative can meet your perspective.
The treat to our eyes are, green sumptuous grasslands names as the Asi Ganga and Bhagirathi valley, and the opulent pine and oak meadows enhance the beauty of the freshwater lake in the Himalayan valleys.
Historical Significance-
One of the Hindu deities, Lord Ganesh is believed to be created at Dodital from clay. There are legendary stories about his birth, and the localists are deemed to call Lord Ganesha as the Dodi King in the area. Kailasu is also mentioned in scriptures.
After undertaking the 21-km trek from Sangamchatti, a temple dedicated to Ganesha, is located at a height of 3,024 meters.
Attractions-
The Perfect Time for trekking to Dodital-
The months of July and August should be sidelined while planning as the roads become ingratiating and slippery.
The finest time to embark on the trek is during April to June (Summers) and September to March (during Autumn and winter season).
How difficult is the Dodital Trek? Who can undertake it?
The novice and the newbies must give it an attempt. Weather conditions are dependably persistent to the modifications, every now and then, hence, Winters and Monsoons become fiddly and complex. Landslides are the benefactors.
How to reach here?
Uttarkashi binds Dodi tal to the outer world, and Uttarkashi can easily be reached through Dehradun.
Sangam chatti is a 19kms drive from Dehradun, and Dodital lake is at 23kms from Sangam chatti.
It takes around 7 hours by drive, from Dehradun to Sangam Chatti which is of 175kms.
How harmless is the trek?
How fit you are?
Why water is the fundamental unit of living?
Surpass the babbling lakes, watercourses, torrents and the bottles can be filled along the pathway.
Brief itinerary-
It takes around 7 kms trek and covers approximately 175kms, and one has to drive for 7 hours and the trek is for an another 5 hours. The trek is at an altitude of 7300 feet.
The travel journey begins in Dehradun, along the eroded roadways marked by the magnetic sensations. The extensive drive tenderly slides into Sangam Chatti, paving the significantly detailed paddy fields and dense meadows of Agoda, a Himalayan hamlet. The first campsite that we reach is Bherwa, along the banks of Asi ganga valley.
During our drive, we are hypnotized by the entrancing aroma of Uttarkashi also called “Kashi of the North” or “Somya Kashi”. It also houses Vishwanath Temple.
The trek takes 7-8 hours, and covers 16 kilometers, at an altitude of 9.921 feet.
Soak in the brightest sunlight, ease your body, prepare yourself and progress towards Dodital trek. Lower grade slopes make the trek an easy one, and oak and rhododendron forests allure the trekkers. Eye-witness the local dialects and watch the shepherds taking the cattle to the grasslands through the bugyals. Manjhi, a type of arrangement of summer-monsoon is quite often grasped. Dodital or Dhundhital, the birth place of Lord Ganesha is at 2 hours from the place. The pristine lake of freshwater is prominent not only for the religious kin, but also for the gigantic mountainous ranges serving as the protectors.
The stargazing we write novels about, is finally achieved here. Spend a comfortable night in the campsite.
At an altitude of 13, 610 feet, and of 8kms total, for 4-5 hours trek
After canyoning on a great feast, the day of the quest finally arrives. Water availability and food are arranged. It takes around 3 km to Darwa pass and then, Darwa top is approximately at 1 kms. The gradual movement proceeds firstly to the Darwa pass and slowly, leaves towards Darwa top.
When the world has been enough heavy, and we are overloaded with weighty emotions, the view of 360 degrees straight, assuages all the burdens. The titanic like Bandar Pooch (Monkey tail), Swarg Rohini, Kedarkantha Gangotri & Kala Nag mollifies our soreness, and replaces with sweetness.
The trek is for 16 km and takes 4-5 hours approximately.
After the sumptuous breakfast, we take a deep breathe in, and exhale.
We walk back to the beginning point i.e Bherwa. We spend a night the site of the camp.
Exulting the supremacy of the nature, we pack our belongings and trace our routes back to Dehradun via Uttarkashi, which is basically about a trek of 7kms and a long drive of 175kms to Uttarkashi. The trek is for 4 hours again, and finally we are driving back to Dehradun for 7 hours.
Important note- If you are travel hippie, and you are observant enough, we can break some rules, and deviate the itinerary on the initial days, as Dodital trek & Dayara Bugyal trek are located adjacently, and can be toured simultaneously.
Add few more days to your travel journal. You plan, we implement.
