Valley of flowers national park stationed in 1982, snuggling in the lap of West Himalayas, owns a legendary tale that describes that it was regarded as Nandan Kanan, also the garden of Lord Indra in heaven in prehistoric times. It is located in Uttarakhand. It is now open for all the travelers for both- those who are coming from outside the state and those who are staying in the state of Uttarakhand.

Perched at an altitude of 3658 meters above the sea level, this valley is home for several species of flora and fauna. You will observe conversant as well as sporadic alpine flowers. This place is indeed a flamboyant paradise.  A valley carpeted with colors, flowers, long never-ending walks through the green meadows, with flowers changing their beautifications almost every year, is a glee to all the trekkers.

There are innumerable number of rare species of animals such as Himalayan snow leopard, Himalayan musk deer, brown beer, red fox and blue sheep are sheltered in the Nanda devi biosphere reserve. Hilly ranges, dense forests, small rivulets and silvery clouds altogether fuse to create a dreamlike appearance called Valley of Flowers. Declared as the National Park in 1982, the vibrant valley claims the coveted title of UNESCO world heritage site as well.The divine beauty, mystical surroundings attracts nature lovers, photographers and botanists.

Due to the ascend of COVID-19 in our country, the valley had to be closed for a long span of time.

Points to be noted before going for the trek.

  • The valley is now unlocked and the trekkers are instructed to possess a Negative test report dispensed by an authorized lab within 72 hours of your arrival in the valley.
  • In the absence of the test reports, you will have to be quarantined for a week under the guidance of the medical fraternity of the Uttarakhand government.

The Valley of Flowers Trek is mostly opened from the month of June to October but the circumstances held the trek on still in the year 2020 which has never happened before in the history of ironic and luxuriant tourism of Uttarakhand. Now it is Open for trekkers of India.

Wildlife experts and scientists are consistently in touch with the government to keep an eye on the opening of the guarded forests and reserves.

The trek commences from Govindghat and it takes around 4 days to complete the trek. Jolly grant serves as the closest functioning airport. You may fly from metropolitan cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru to reach Dehradun.

The government is anticipating a speedy uplift in the tourism of the state of Uttarakhand and is ensuring all the precautionary measures to prevent infection in the grandiose valley in paradise.
